A Vote for Anyone Other Than McCain, Is a Vote for Obama!

Voting for Barack Obama is not the most insane thing an American can do, even though with what he represents, it is no less than insane. If a person actually swallows the pablum the Democrat candidate has put out, it is ALMOST understandable.
No, the most insane thing an American can do this election is vote for anyone other than McCane!
A vote for a "green" candidate, independent, Constitution Party candidate, Libertarian or any other, is a vote for Obama. If it turns out that Obama does win, they will be accountable more than the others
I voted for a Democrat disguised as a Republican...a liberal passing himself off as a conservative. I voted for McCain. I will NEVER vote for a Marxist even if he's purple!
And once again, for those of you who want to pull the race card out of some oriface, I fully supported Alan Keyes in all his bids for the Presidency and in his run for the Senate. Of you'll check the photos, Keyes is "blacker" than Obama, so that "dog don't hunt!"

Dad's Semi-Annual Gripe

Coming off and going on Daylight Saving Time is something the Geeze used to fuss the most about. By the way, professional broadcasters with good program directors, like teaching announcers the correct on-air pronunciation of the letter "W" and FEB'-roo-ary (February) learn that there's only one "S" in Daylight Saving Time!

A Week Left, A WEAK Left

USE YOUR BRAIN
VOTE for McCAIN!

We know their policies are weak. Let's hope their numbers aren't as advertised. People just don't have a healthy fear or knowledge of Marxism. God help us from turning Obama into the next Castro! With a week left, let's hope we have a weak left.

A Marxist Tradition...

Fidel Castro came into power in Cuba as an agent of much needed change. Sound familiar?
Castro's first act as the good Catholic he CLAIMED to be was to bulldoze all Roman Catholic cemeteries because his "administration" believed it was a waste of land. Today, citizens cannot possess meat. That's for the tourists. There is no criticizing Castro in Cuba, just as it criticism wasn't tolerated in the Soviet Union and we ALL know about Tienaman Square.
Barack Obama is a Marxist and does not tolerate other opinion. Neither do his supporters as evidenced in the above picture.

Like the Internal Organ He's Named After

Colin Powell put out some political rhetoric that would grow excellent tomatoes, but has no basis whatsoever in truth. Racism in the election? His words pretty much prove that.
It's also not true as is said over and over again, that Obama is the first black man to run for President. He IS the first to get his party's nod. And for all the libs who want to pull the race card out of THEIR internal organ, I fully supported Alan Keyes for President in the past two elections over George W Bush and against Obama in his Senatorial bid. So the racism card may fly, but look to Colin Powell for that!
Powell SHOULD be able to recognize a Marxist when he sees one or at least have enough sense not to support one!

Karaoke Always Suffers

If it's not a karaoke host who would be run off stage at Charlie Goodnights with his "comedy," a karaoke host who fancies himself Sir Mixalot, or one that always shows up late, karaoke suffers from not being a priority. It already suffers an inaccurate image as portrayed on television and motion pictures. Believe it or not, it's not ALL tone-deaf yuppies displaying their lack of talent. At least around here, there are those who actually have some talent. On a good night the tone-deaf factor is minimized.
But you let a holiday come by or some special occasion and owners or planners for these events make karaoke their last priority. First of all, if you're going to advertise karaoke, let it be that...karaoke. If you're going to have some guy playing music who's a legend in his own mind, have at it, but advertise it as such. If you're going to have karaoke on a set night, be consistent and have it on that night.
We're entering a season I dispise where holidays come and karaoke takes a back seat. October 31st is Halloween and one venue is having a contest for the sexiest costume, etc. The advertising doesn't mention karaoke and describes the karaoke host as a "deejay." The use of that term is quite debatable as I've covered in previous blog entries.
So, here we go again. Have a ball, people, but don't expect to look around and see me and a lot of a lot of folks who enjoy singing to be there. We'll be at some other venue or taking the night off!

Success

Often one person will pay for another's success. This Friday night in keeping with trying to widen the view of a generation that moves to the same ole drum, I pulled out a Beatle album cut for my first song, "I'm Only Sleeping." It was on the American version album "Yesterday and Today."It's a more "artsie" song than many Beatle tunes.
Last night a friend gave me his review of the performance. He thought a woman was there singing and came and made a funny face at me. Most of the crowd seemed to really like it, especially Beatle effionatos.
I kept trying to refine my friend's remarks, because he has been known to say, "Man, you can sing ANYTHING!" Now he was making comments like "You don't need to be doing THAT song."
So I began to question him. "Have you ever heard the song?"
"I told you've I've heard it."
"Well, then, did it not sound authentic?"
"It sounded just like the Beatles, but you just don't need to do that song!"
I guess my friend found a Beatle song he doesn't like, but didn't know how to say it.
My friend, Cookie, asked me, "What's the song that says 'I get by with a little help from my friends?' "
I told him, "'A Little Help From My Friends'" So we did that song as a duet. Friday was a busy night with a lot of singers and amazingly, very few tone-deaf entries. One guy who is know to "recite" the same song, he sort of talks it without a melody week after week after week, didn't do so. That was a relief. As usual, karaoke started late. It's supposed to start at ten. Tony, the host, sang the first song and I was second, but at 12:30 I asked Tony if he could give me an idea of how long it would be before the rotation repeated. He said, "It's only going to be five or six more songs."
Then he announced same over the system. I tabbed out and headed for another venue. On the way out the door, Tony said, "Sorry, Man."
I said, "Tony, don't apologize for success. It's a good thing, but I want to sing. Up the street in an hour I can do three or four songs." Off I went.
