The Geeze

Last night, in his honor, I wore his Swiss Army watch and sang "Cats in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin. My Dad, the Geeze continues to live in my heart but is with Jesus and Mom in Heaven (and with my Grandfather)
Dad used to speak with love of riding with Grandaddy (I never met him) on his insurance debit, singing "Happy on the Way." Dad regretted, "provoking him so badly, he bit the stem off his pipe!"
Dad wouldn't waste money on beer while attending UNC Chapel Hill because in his eyes it would be disrespectful of HIS Dad working long hours standing on his feet at Roebuck's Fruit Market in "Little Washington" North Carolina.
Sometimes the Geeze would tune up and cry because he so missed my Grandfather.
May people wrote my Dad off, but he was a man who, like me, finds the FACTS before making an opinion. Many people set an agenda and then seek proof that their foredrawn conclusions are true. I learned not to do that from Dad.
The Geeze...I miss him today, but soon, the Lord will bless me with another visit with him in a vivid dream and the day after will be great because it will be just as though we had a chance to hang out. I love you, Pop!
